I am a North-West based NHS England-Approved Clinical Coding Auditor and ACC Clinical Coder, working in the remote contract market. I have 20 years’ experience in the clinical coding industry, starting as a novice in April 2004 and achieving Accredited Clinical Coder (ACC) status in March 2007. This experience consists of 13 years of working in the NHS and 7 years of freelance contract coding work. I qualified as a Clinical Coding Auditor in December 2016 and have successfully maintained this status.Additional qualifications of a BSc Hons Degree in Genetics combined with a PRINCE2 foundation and an Institute in Leadership & Management (ILM) Level 3 complete my professional skill set. I work at the highest level of competency, applying substantial attention to detail and a logical thought process. I have a good working knowledge of anatomy & physiology and medical terminology and an excellent awareness of HRG's, PbR and the data standards defined by the National Case-mix Office, in order to complete clinical coding assignments and coding audits to the highest possible standards.I have worked across a number of different specialties including General Medicine, General Surgery, Gastroenterology, Haematology, Oncology, Ophthalmology, ENT, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Dental Surgery, Accident & Emergency, Trauma & Orthopaedics, Cardiology, Urology, Gynaecology, Dermatology, Anaesthetics, Psychiatry, Medicine for the Elderly and the coding of deceased patients. I have good experience of conducting in-depth patient data analysis, using online healthcare intelligence portals such as Dr Foster and Healthcare Evaluation Data (HED) to analyse and benchmark specific healthcare trends for individual Trusts from selected peer groups. I have successfully completed a number of coding audit-led projects which have involved reporting and presenting findings and data to executive board members and quality improvement bodies such as GIRFT (Getting it Right First Time).By combining extensive research with regular clinical engagement I have designed, developed and delivered a number of bespoke training presentations and associated training materials to drive forward positive clinical coding improvement for the specified Trust.I produce high-standard audit reports which are circulated and presented at executive level.
