Provides leadership in the development of the 7-12 instructional program and achievement of state core curriculum content standards and district goals and objectives by facilitating in-district workshops using NJDOE approved materials and documents for curriculum writing.Assists in the implementation of the district's in-service education program for the instructional staff by exploring the "gaps" in our programs and using in-service time to support current requirements and district needs.Development of district wide curriculum review; course review inventory; standards review and clarification document review for all district courses prior to 2008-09 QSAC review.Development of New Course Development manual with a focus on mission, vision, goals, instructional content criterion and assessment.Schedules and organizes team and departmental meetings, as well as with sending districts (Mantua and Harrison) in order to affect horizontal and vertical continuity and articulation of the instructional program or the schools.Plans and presents informational sessions each year for the purpose of interpreting to the Board of Education and to the parents and public at large the educational program of the schools.Coordinates the selection of textbooks and instructional materials throughout the district through the use of faculty committees and recommends those selected to the Assistant Superintendent for adoption to the Board of Education.Conducts classroom observations and provides supervision/evaluation of teachers and non-certified staff as requested by building principals or central office administrative staff. Assists in district testing program for content areas and assumes responsibility for reviewing and evaluating results of district-wide testing programs for NJASK, HSPA, and AHSA.Developed Visual and Performing Arts articulation schedule and facilitated Tri-School District Choral Festival.

Advanced Placement Literature and Composition Instructor

The New Teacher Academy provides new staff with valuable and effective workshops specific to the needs of new teachers congruent with district, state and national standards for excellence. In-district experts will provide a series of workshops for first, second and third year staff. Workshops are aligned with district objectives, as outlined in the Local Professional Development Mentoring plan and with 21st Century expectations for instructional excellence.Workshops offer new staff the opportunity to participate in various instructional models applicable in their own classrooms. Although the focus will be on the design and implementation of Best Practices, classroom management has been identified as focal point of new staff, who must plan and design their instruction utilizing unfamiliar curricula in a foreign setting. Each workshop will be tailored to the needs of current staff. This first series will also connect with the Essential Elements of Effective Instruction summer orientation; presenters are qualified staff members who work closely with the NTA Director to implement workshops effectively.
