About Tracy Olasimbo

I am an advocate for equity in education, a seasoned program leader, a skilled facilitator, and a content creator. As the former Partnerships and Professional Learning Associate at Ingenuity, I developed and implemented professional development for educators and community partners, supported under-resourced schools, and built vital relationships in the community. After participating in The National SEED Project (aimed at self-reflection as a means by which communities and workplaces can build the capacity to create equitable spaces), I became impassioned with helping others foster cultural awareness to build equitable and inclusive environments. My passion for diversity and equity has driven me towards more community engagement and activism by developing and facilitating workshops for parents, educators, and community members. The work in these communities led me to collaborate with a fellow parent and facilitator to launch Sprint2Equity. While leading workshops within my community, I am also responsible for developing and managing panels of community leaders to execute program strategies that supported and elevated marginalized school populations.

Next Steps for Transformation NFP started as a group of Evanston/Skokie District 65 caregivers who came together to address the role caregivers can play in closing the opportunity gap in our racially diverse schools. We hold the belief that caregivers and staff can impact racialized gaps in opportunity and in discipline as well as promote antiracist environments in the schools. Through a cohort model, our goal is to broaden caregivers’ understanding of racism; how it impacts children in our schools; and how, individually and through our children, caregivers can proactively and reactively contribute to an antiracist school and community.
