I am currently responsible for overseeing the day to day cover of a secondary school with 1025 students and approximately 75 members of teaching staff. I work from home at the start for the day receiving calls from teaching staff reporting their absence and following this I put cover staff in place to ensure that all students have a teacher for their lessons on that day, should we have a high volume of absence I will contact agencies to ensure a supply teacher comes into school. Once the cover has been finalised I pass this information around to all staff so that they are clear what the school day will look like. As well as the last minute day to day cover I also arrange for for planned school events which may see a large number of staff off of the teaching timetable in these cases a more detailed analysis of staff, students and classroom sizes is required to achieve minimal disruption. Classes may need to be merged and placed in larger rooms etc.In addition to this role I am also responsible for assisting the senior deputy Head teacher in his role as timetable. Once the format for the new academic year has been agreed my role is to create and set up the timetable, adding appropriate classrooms for each subject and ensuring that all classes have the correct teacher. I then maintain this timetable throughout the year. Any errors on this may cause problems for the whole school, so accuracy is essential.

Starting as an administration officer I soon progressed to a Team Leader managing 18 staff, then progressing to a Complaints, Investigation and Enforcement officer. Ofsted (Early Years) are the government department responsible for registering childcare providers. During my time I dealt with members of the public, legal profession and other public agencies in my various roles. I have been Civil Service trained to sift job applications and interview candidates. I also undertook PACE training which covered the importance of taking contemporaneous notes during interviews. I was made redundant when the office relocated to Nottingham.
