Contract at Microsoft, in SCVMM (Virtual Machine Mgmt). Tested VM Connect component, WLC, and UI features in Virtual Server, VMWare and Hyper-V. Training in/exposure to SQL Server 2005/2008, Hyper-V, MadDog, PowerShell. Ran manual tests, and developed test cases using PowerShell/XML for script parsing tool. Some tool development in C#. Training through VTE on C# (XML parsing), SQL 2005, PowerShell. Aided in documentation and automation of Sysprep process to create test infrastructure for Workload Creation feature team

Contract at Microsoft, with Windows Live OneCare group.Maintained, developed and ran manual tests and automation for Client Core Services, MU Manager, Firewall, Antimalware components. Coordinated test of new feature areas (development team) with customer service (forensics team)Participated in core features triage.

Tested core video streaming components in Windows (XP, Server SP1, Longhorn) for Direct Show. Supervised smoke procedure and BVT process for the lab. Test ownership of AVI reading/writing, ASF reading/writing and also some work in BDA, Media Foundation, codecs support, and porting over legacy tests to x64 platform (Sustained Engineering). Drove test development, triaged and investigated bugs (Kernel Debugger, NTSD, App Verifier), wrote and maintained test plans, wrote and implemented manual and automated tests, assisted in test maintenance by writing batch files, pseudo code scripts used by test objects, and XML. Experience with Windows Test Technologies (WTT Studio) and Product Studio. Some C++ used for console apps. Documented smoke testing process for 5 different feature teams in EHome: Audio, Video Hardware Acceleration, Codecs, and Digital Rights Management. Coordinated smoke testing for 50+ testers on these teams. Received promotion for work coordinating WMASF testing between DirectShow and WMPlayer teams Took on Program Management role for DShow Samples in Windows 2003 SDK. We shipped the samples on time and fully functional, but with a compromise of DX9.0a dependency; received commendation from SDK team for my work. Interviewed, trained and supervised CSG lab personnel (2 direct reports at any one time) Documented BVT process for EHome test division. Authored 7 test plans.

Worked in Dshow video streaming division testing DX8 sdk, Dexter and other video editing and streaming components of Windows Millennium, Windows 2000, Whistler. Solid, consistent "nose for bugs" netted me an FTE position with Microsoft.

Three month contract at Nintendo of America. Second tier telephone help desk for N64 hookups, part orders.Was retained through to March from seasonal contract, after 2 staff force reductions (so, 3-month contract was extended to 5 months). Received excellent rating for customer service

Worked on a six-month contract at PennWell Publishing, utilizing C++, Access97, and open VMS. Bulk of work involved writing over ten stand-alone preprocessors in C++ for manipulation of text data packets, either running from VMS or Windows 95/98 platforms. QUAL program (11,000+ LOC) replaced stand-alone preprocessors by allowing dynamic updates to database fields by anyone with access to VAX (point 'n click).
