Children's Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) is one of the largest pediatric clinical care providers in the country. The hematology/oncology service line of CHOA, The Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center, is one of the pre-eminant providers for children with cancers and blood disorders in the country. I manage a team that is responsible for ensuring that our fundraising is aligned with our strategic needs and that our donations are spent according to donor restrictions. I manage a team that currently oversees an annual budget of over $25M in philanthropy funds, in over 100 different fund accounts and posting to eight different cost centers.Responsibilities:* With service line leaders, participating in strategic planning, implementation, and goal setting, ensuring that our donor funding needs meet up with our ability to raise philanthropy.* Maintaining detailed department proforma and spending plan, forecasting fundraising to cover growth and ensuring correct mix of cash vs. endowment.* Being the primary service line contact for our foundation team; matching needs of the service line and donor interests. Creating proposals for donors.* Managing funds to ensure spending is consistent with donor intent and service line vision.* Reporting to donors, the Board of Directors, and internal leaders on how money is raised and spent.* Creating, monitoring, and managing $25M annual budgets for several cost centers.* Direct day-to-day management of special funds coordinator (since 2015).* Working closely with Emory University on leased physicians, research expenses, and fellowship expenses. Approximately half of the annual budget is related to expenses at Emory University.

Mizuho Financial Services is one of the largest financial institutions in the world. In 2002, three Japanese banks combined to form Mizuho. The Atlanta Agency focused on lending and deposits for Fortune 500 companies and Japanese companies located in the southeast U.S. I was hired as an assistant in the business operations department and soon supervised a team of four. In a down-sizing office, I held many different positions, including working in the accounting/ administration, and business development departments. I became Assistant Vice President in 2000. In 2003, Mizuho closed the Atlanta Agency (but has since resumed operations in Atlanta).Responsibilities:* Business Delopment - Loan Officer - Performed analysis of customers including research, profiles, financial ratios, and rating models for $3 billion portfolio of U.S. investment-grade corporations. Prepared applications for syndicated and bilateral loans and letters of credit. Managed lending desk of $300 million, including negotiations with trading desk and customers. Attended clients’ bank meetings. * Accounting/Administration - Responsible for the office's accounting functions including preparing general ledger, profit/loss statements, book closing, business plan, and budget forecasts. Acted as compliance officer, reviewed regulations and prepared state and federal compliance reports. Coordinated internal and Federal Reserve audits, acting as primary contact. Coordinated and oversaw ledger transfer to our NY office. * Business Operations - Managed the daily activities of the Business Operations Dept., including 4 clerks. Managed short-term, uncommitted lending desk. Processed loans, time deposits, wire transfers, and foreign exchange transactions for a portfolio of around $1.0 billion, representing > 80 investment-grade corporate clients. Set the daily cash position and arranged funding with NY office. Prepared operational reports such as accrued income, portfolio risk, and outstanding loans.
