On a daily basis my duties are to provide complete pre-authorization, insurance verification, basic benefits information on all outpatient registration accounts for patient utilizing the Medical Center’s clinical systems. In doing so I obtain all demographic and financial information all information is entered and updated into the hospital registration system. I provide pre-authorization and/or insurance referral numbers prior to patient receiving services at GUH based on various insurance requirements and rules. I assist with tracking of continuing or multi use authorizations and referrals. I initiate and receive phone calls from patients, some transferred from clinical departments. I provide benefit coordination for patients in order to properly instruct when services will or will not be covered by insurance and whether and co-payments or deductibles will be due at the point of service. I refer some cases to proper departments for Financial Assistance assessment prior to treatment.

On a daily basis my duties were to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality, I was responsible for answering phones professional and efficiently, Transcribe M.D. orders in an accurate and efficient manner. I communicated with the appropriate patient admissions/transfer/discharge information to the charge nurse and/or admitting office. I notified the staff with stat orders, filling patient’s lab reports/ consents on patient’s charts, breaking down charts, answer call lights at desk and make patients needs known to appropriate CA, RN or Charge Nurse. I also place patient’s charges into computer; I'm responsible for notifying Charge Nurse and Nurse Manager immediately of any patient/family satisfaction issues. I prepared and distribute admission information packets to the parents and appropriately answer question regarding birth certificates, visiting hours, hearing screening, and security measures.
