• Developed program requirements for unique teacher residency model. Designed rigorous program curricula to prepare candidates to teach diverse, low-income, urban students including microcredentials, benchmark defenses, digital portfolio reviews, and weekly professional development in compliance with state licensing requirements.• Increased the number of highly qualified teachers in Indianapolis. Licensed 27 highly qualified teachers in the first five years. 90% of graduates are still teaching, 100% would recommend the program to a friend, and over 80% felt very prepared to lead a classroom. Established a mentorship model which helped 92% of mentors grow as a teacher and stay in the classroom longer.• Expanded the educator pipeline. Established partnerships with IPS and Circle City Prep to bring IndyTeach to their schools. Presented how IndyTeach is addressing the national teacher shortage at the 2022 State Policy Network Annual Meeting. Collaborated with representatives from Kentucky, Wisconsin, and Utah to establish similar programs in their states

• Led an award-winning urban, Title I charter school with 350 students and 40 staff members.
Provided executive leadership in the recruitment of staff and co-created a retention system reducing staff turnover. Established a common vision, solidified teacher expectations, and collaborated to revamp the evaluation process.
• Fostered a culture of learning and revision amongst staff. Facilitated the intellectual and professional development of teachers/interventionists through weekly PLCs, book clubs, and regular classroom observations. Provided individualized, classroom-based coaching to support teacher development, achievement of professional goals, and to analyze student data to make instructional decisions based on best practices. Facilitated the use of learning targets, assessments, rubrics, standards-based grading, technology integration, and Response to Intervention programming.
• Improved school culture and student engagement. Reduced discipline referrals by over 30 percent by creating a school-wide PBIS program and implementing Responsive Classrooms and Restorative Justice practices. Established, implemented, evaluated, and maintained curricular programs and building goals that reflect student achievement and growth. Created after school tutoring program and restructured Summer Enrichment program to provide more opportunities for at-risk students.

Fostered positive community, staff and student relations, and effective communications through a regular principal newsletter, coffee with the principal, family nights, school tours, and quarterly student-led conferences. Built and maintained productive relationships with community partners.

• Analyzed school-wide student data and led weekly professional development to create school improvement plans, identify student learning goals, facilitate teacher proficiency, and ensure progression of teacher skill development.• Provided support and monitored progress through observations/feedback, demonstration lessons, team teaching, and individual teacher mentoring for 15 teachers.

• Facilitated and created the curriculum for an elementary methods course based on new and innovative applications and theories in mathematics, science, and social studies.

• Increased number of students scoring proficient or advanced on state standardized tests by 14 percent in mathematics. Increased student mastery of grade level mathematics standards by more than 24 percent by creating and implementing a project-based, arts-integrated reading, writing, social studies, and math curriculum

• Increased state standardized test scores by 40 percent by creating lessons using chants, poetry, the arts, field trips, pullout groups, and hands-on experiences.

• Selected from competitive field of college graduates to teach at a profoundly under-resourced public middle school. Represented Teach For America as charter corps member and only corps member placed in school.• Increased student reading ability by 1.4 and 1.5 grade levels in fifth and sixth grade in one year. • Nominated for Disney Teacher of the Year, 2005.
