Background: I'm a Generation X, Chicago-born, cis-gendered, differently-abled lesbian female who owns my own practice since 2013. My work history includes many hospital environments (ER, Inpatient psychiatric, PHP/IOP), community mental health, residential mental health care for youth, DV/SA centers, and outpatient group practices. Academic/Training Background: BA in Psychology with Upper Division Honors in Psychology, and an MA in Community/Agency Counseling, both from Northern Illinois University. Post-graduate Play Therapy Certificate program at MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe, KS. I've also completed all of the coursework for the CADC credential and am quite comfortable with substance and process addiction work. I'm trained in EMDR with additional advanced trainings related to EMDR and dissociation, and using EMDR with children. I'm trained in Theraplay (advanced level) and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (Levels 1 and 2), and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (Level 2.) I am also currently in an intensive training program for Psychodrama certification. I have completed the 40 hour domestic violence counselor (ICADV), 40 hour sexual assault and abuse counselor (ICASA) and 60 hour child sexual abuse counselor (ICASA) trainings.Clinical Focus and Skills: My primary clinical interests include trauma across the lifespan, attachment-focused therapies with all ages, autism spectrum disorders, and personality concerns. I'm a skilled and adept presenter and enjoy providing both educational and clinically-oriented seminars. I employ a variety of techniques depending on client needs, and incorporate a fully developmental and interpersonal focus in my work with clients. Techniques I utilize include EMDR, AEDP, Heart Math, hypnosis, and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. I appreciate using creativity, humor, and experiential techniques in helping people heal. With children, I particularly enjoy using play therapy (both directive and non-directive), Theraplay, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP), Sandtray Therapy, and EMDR.Leisure Interests: Reading, DIY projects, Building PC computers, Creative writing, knitting, crocheting, Art-making, Playing (piano, guitar, bassoon) and listening to music, Pottery (wheel-throwing), and I am owned by two cats - Dennis, 11, and Tigger, 4, of who I am currently working on teaching my cats to communicate via the FluentPet system!
