As an Internal Management Consultant for SouthTrust, a top 20 bank corporation, I found cost savings and revenue opportunities across bank operations in eight states. While still at the bank, I purchased a consignment boutique which at the time was located off the beaten path in a quaint 70-year old house. I had just graduated with my MBA and was anxious to test ALL of my business skills, So in 1995, with no retail background, I created the type of store I would like to shop in — designer clothes and accessories at an affordable price in a boutique setting.COLLAGE has been voted 'Best Consignment Shop' and 'Best Women's Boutique' in Birmingham Magazine and in 2003, was awarded 'Retailer of the Year' by the Alabama Retail Association. In the fall of 2008, I launched Consignment Chic, a television show and online community about the thrill of consignment shopping. ConsignmentChic.com is THE place to find a local consignment shop, watch video segments from our television show and shop online from a selection of the best items from consignment shops all across the country. I was president and convention keynote speaker for NARTS, the National Association of Resale and Thrift Shops. I am also a founding member of ARI, the Association for Resale Innovation. COLLAGE has been recognized nationally by NARTS and won top 10 in the national 'NAWBO/Wells Fargo Trailblazer Award' for our use of industry best practices and innovation. I professionally consult other shops across the country and Canada on how to succeed in their businesses.
