Focus on College application and essay support

I develop curriculum, perform online lessons, and engage in one on one and small group instruction to students throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania who are enrolled in BVA's English classes, grades 9 - 12. I develop and organize an annual African American Read-in where we feature a contemporary young adult author as a guest with a book giveaway and signing for all attendees. Authors have included The Twin Poets, Poets Laureate from Delaware; Renee Watson; Jason Reynolds; Tiffany D. Jackson; and Kwame Alexander.As the editor for BVA's literary magazine, Penn & Ink, I send out a call for submissions, collect writing samples and artwork from our students, and edit and publish a professional literary magazine in a physical and virtual copy.

Presented to Language Arts teachers on how to incorporate new common core (CCSS) into formative assessment using Webb's depth of knowledge (DOK) as a guide. This training demonstrated a step-by-step process for "unpacking" the standards and creating engaging and meaningful assessments to inform student learning and teaching.

Taught English composition I and II, Advanced Composition, World Literature I and II, and Children's Literature.

Taught English Language Arts to students in grades 9, 10, and 12, including regular, honors, and gifted levels. Also coached Varsity and Competition cheerleading teams.
