As a marketing volunteer at Illuminate Charity I was responsible for regular communications with our community to give them a sense of belonging and on-going contact, learning and togetherness after our formal programme. I contributed towards strategic thinking and planning towards a sustainable future despite dips in funding.

I spent 14 months away from my usual working environment to join a new world of demolition, construction, plumbing, brick laying, carpentry, electricians, roofers, kitchen fitters, flooring specialists and decorators to project manage the refurbishment and extension of our new home. Hard but very fulfilling work.

Created and managed customer mailing programmes to generate leads, giving sales agents a valid reason to contact their customers to secure more business, generating a 10% conversion rate. Re-engineered costly statement mailings into a business generation exercise. This involved 1.8 million customer statements across all product sectors and it delivered cross-sell opportunities whilst re-enforcing the brand and existing relationship. Responsible for a budget of £860,000.

Managed annual conference of 600 delegates from theme development to delivery; created and managed advertising campaign from concept to media and response. Responsible for monthly newsletter, PR and new product literature

Key achievements included the implementation of direct marketing campaigns, initiating and managing the press relations programme, redesigning and editing the sales force magazine, auditing the sponsorship strategy and implementing Barnardos Enterprise for Students Pilot, producing corporate and product literature and supporting the market research team.
