Assisted a professor in the School of Nursing by reviewing a Sickkids hospital ethics proposal for a $50,000 project and addressing committee comments and reviewing content of two scripts about students with disabilities in clinical sites.

Working as a graduate research assistant with a professor in the School of Nursing, I researched, wrote, and submitted a manuscript for publication outlining a framework for nursing programs to implement clinical placement essential requirements which would allow the identification of clinical tasks and human rights law on the duty to accommodate. The manuscript will be published in the Canadian Journal of Disability Studies (2021).

When I began my Master's degree, I was suddenly part of a world I knew very little about: I was a unionized member. Near the completion of my Master's degree, the union was entering into negotiations with the employer for our collective agreement and as I desired to enhance my knowledge about labour relations, I ran for a bargaining team position. After being elected to represent Unit 3 issues by the local membership my role included drafting, discussing and negotiating proposals in relation to Unit 3 with the membership and then negotiating as a bargaining team member, a new collective agreement with the employer, York University. This position allowed me to hone in on my interpersonal, conflict resolution and negotiating skills, as well as, develop an immense amount of patience.
