My passion is the effective leadership of schools and I am a National Leader of Education supporting schools at different stages of development.I currently work for multi-academy chain United Learning as one of two Primary Directosr with a responsibility for 17 primary schools. Previously I was the Executive Headteacher of Corngreaves Primary School and Timbertree Primary School in Sandwell LA in the West Midlands. Between 2005-2006 I left Headship to pursue an independent year supporting other Headteachers and it was, through this work, that I became Consultant Headteacher at Corngreaves just as it ‘collapsed’ into Special Measures. Unable to resist a challenge I became substantive Headteacher in September 2006 and an improved Corngreaves became one of the first cohort of National Teaching School in 2010.As part of this work, the Corngreaves Teaching School Alliance has supported over 3,000 teachers and leaders and in excess of 300 schools. I am committed to school-to-school collaboration as a highly effective method of improving all schools involved in the process and I believe that, "None of us is as smart as all of us”.It doesn't take too much to work out that my professional specialisms include raising standards and progress as well as leading and managing change. However, I am also highly skilled in teaching and learning with a focus on Assessment for Learning as well as transforming Special Measures schools with a clear focus and rationale for what has to be achieved in the long and short term.
