In my role as events manager I scheduled, managed and delivered a programme of regional seminars and annual conferences as well as an AGM dinner and an annual awards' ceremony and gala dinner.Attracting between 30 to 300 delegates, the events provided high quality education, including clinical and topical presentations, and career support to enable members to fulfil their professional roles. I forecasted delegate numbers and formulated budgets; worked with the marketing department to create promotional strategies and marketing collaterals including print and online material; negotiated with suppliers to ensure procurement of required services and materials at competitive prices and favourable terms; managed multiple events simultaneously and contributed towards the skillset and professional development of the Events and Exhibition Officer through clear objectives and regular one-to-one meetings.

The Association of Optometrists (AOP) is a membership organisation for optometrists and other optical professionals. It protects, supports and represents its members throughout their careers. With over 80% of UK practising optometrists as members, they are the leading provider of medical malpractice insurance for optometrists in the UK and provide high quality services and benefits to enable their members to fulfil their professional roles. They offer a comprehensive events programme covering continuing education training and career support.As events assistant, I controlled all aspects of delegate registration; updated the website with timely and relevant content and administered onsite logistics to make sure the event ran smoothly. In addition, I assembled delegate packs, created seating plans and collated rooming lists and dietary requirements for each venue and ascertained presentation requirements of all speakers and made arrangements accordingly.Within my remit I and following each event gathered attendee feedback and created comprehensive reports for future improvements.Formulating reports on pre and post event activity to update senior management as well as gathering important delegate feedback for future improvements played an important role in shaping the annual events' calendar.
