The Hidden Genius Project (HGP) is a national nonprofit organization, operating in six cities, that trains and mentors Black male youth in technology creation, entrepreneurship, and leadership skills to transform their lives and communities. To date, the program has impacted more than 9,800 youth through 612,000+ hours of direct training and mentorship.Leveraging my previous experience building an award-winning nonprofit, I was honored to play a critical role in launching the organization. As a volunteer staff member, I led and managed fundraising, programming, evaluation, strategy, and operations for the first three years. Additionally, I led HGP through a strategic planning process, resulting in the hiring of our first Executive Director & full-time, paid staff, as well as the scaling of the organization.

MindBlown Labs (MBL) is a financial wellness innovation lab that creates games and gamified solutions, which motivate Millennials to save and invest for the future. Our first major product was a nationally-recognized, financial capability mobile app, called Thrive ‘n’ Shine, which impacted more than 10,000 students.As Co-Founder, I helped build and lead a high-performing, diverse team of twelve professionals. I performed a variety of functions, including: enhancing employee engagement, company culture, and team cohesiveness; pitching and presenting about MBL and Thrive ‘n’ Shine; fundraising through investors, competitions, and crowdfunding; creating strategic partnerships; overseeing business development; and planning and executing trainings, presentations, and in-person activations.I also authored and served as the project manager of an extensive, complex research proposal that resulted in MBL’s being awarded a $610K innovation fund contract from the United States Treasury Department. MindBlown Labs was the only financial education company selected to receive this prestigious award. MindBlown Labs has been featured in: Mashable, EdSurge, Entrepreneur Magazine, Black Enterprise, CNN Money, and The Oakland Tribune.

I built and successfully launched Leadership Scholars, a non-profit leadership development and mentoring program for inner-city youth in Cincinnati, OH. While I helped achieve a 95% year-to-year retention rate, I am most proud of transcending my role of Executive Director and serving as a mentor to many Leaders and Scholars in the program.In five years, I grew Leadership Scholars to serving 300 students (mostly at-risk) per year and partnering with 15 schools, resulting in more than 23,000 direct service hours per year. An independent, external evaluation found that the majority of student participants improved in their communication skills, interpersonal skills, self-confidence, motivation, and several other leadership characteristics.At Leadership Scholars, I developed and oversaw such areas as: employee performance and engagement; strategy; programming; staff recruitment, management, and development; partnership development; continuous improvement; fundraising; finances; evaluation; and growth.
