Fmp- Financial Management Program
FMP is an intensive rotational program with four 6-months rotations within the finance function across different GE businesses. Candidates may also be selected to represent the region in one international rotation either in Atlanta, Fairfield, Paris, Florence, Hong Kong, Dubai, Tokyo or Seoul. Throughout my experience, I was placed across a total of 3 GE businesses across 2 region and 3 countries. I started with a Statutory Controllership role with GE Power & Water based in KL, Malaysia, then to a Financial Planning & Advisory (FP&A) role with GE Oil & Gas based in Singapore, then to a Cash Analyst role supporting the Europe Cash Team in GE Healthcare based in Buc/Paris, France, and finally back to KL for a Controllership role with GE Power & Water. My 2 years as an FMP have provided me with great learning experiences where I further developed my financial and business acumen. It also allowed me to practice my interpersonal and analytical skills, while giving me insight to the way of finance. I have had the chance of acquiring as well as sharpening valuable skills vital for the survival and success in any business stream, such skills as communications and interpersonal, leadership, presentation, teamwork, and creativity. The structure of the FMP heavily revolves around in-class presentations, team assignments & study materials of topics relevant to any industry such as operational accounting, controls and strategy. These are expectations on top of our current rotation's role job responsibilities, hence time management is an integral part to success within the FMP.
