Derek founded Fibonacci Live and brings 30 years of experience to the trading community. He began his career in 1989 as a licensed financial advisor and built a very successful practice while growing his assets under management to just under $300 million in 5 years. Ending his retail brokerage tenure while in the top 1% of his firm, Derek made the decision to venture out on his own as a private investor and trader.Over the next two years Derek was mentored by Harvey Houtkin who is regarded as the father of electronic trading, becoming a standout protégé and avid trader. In 1996 after successfully trading on his own and teaching some former colleagues, Derek started his own firm and with Harvey's guidance made his direct access electronic trading connections and strategies available to the public for the first time. By word of mouth and positive press the firm grew rapidly and grossed over $1 million in revenues in its first year, ultimately becoming one of the largest privately owned trading operations in the United States.As a respected person in the industry Derek receives invitations to speak at financial expos and symposiums. He is featured in the book "Traders at Work - How the World's Most Successful Traders Make Their Living in the Markets" and will be publishing his own book on trading. Derek was also one in a select group asked to testify before a congressional subcommittee and speak to industry regulators regarding active electronic trading by private individuals and potential industry improvements. In 2007 he released his first software program which introduced Range Bar Charting to the Forex trading community and is now regarded as one of the world's foremost experts in trading with pure price charting technology. Derek is a unique provider of substantive training, advanced software and trading tools, plus he shares his knowledge with clients, teaches classes and provides 1-on-1 mentoring.
