I joined the NYPD as a police officer in 1992 and retired 20 years later as a Detective. While with the Department my presence and social skills earned me an assignment in Community Policing where I excelled at identifying and rectifying problems plaguing neighborhood residents and shop owners that ranged from disorderly conduct and public drunkeness to street corner drug sales and chop shops. Based on my organizational skills I was later singled out for appointment to Fleet Coordinator and tasked with ensuring 25 patrol vehicles routinely running 24 hours a day suffered no lapses in reliability and safety - a positioned I maintained in addition to my Community Policing duties. After 10 years on patrol I was transferred to the NYPD's Department magazine based on the strength of personal writing samples. As a staff writer I covered every aspect of the Department from emergency response (including but not limited to Blackouts, Hurricanes and the Miracle on the Hudson) to City Wide Events and Department Recognition (including but not limited to 9/11 Memorials Papal Visits, Parades, Medal Day and promotions). In recognition of my dedication and commitment to chronicling the history of the NYPD I was promoted to Detective in 2008.My first novel, To Have and To Hold, was published in 2014. I am currently working on a second that I hope to publish in 2016.
