Educational Summary and ObjectivesI would summarize myself as a person who believes in collaboration and building a true professional community. My style, and I applied this as Elementary Leader and Middle School Activity Coordinator, was to encourage peers to present their strengths for others. Collaboration must be done in small groups, by grade level, staff level, and with the community. I believe an effective leader must ensure that staff development meets the needs of a curriculum, facilitate change that is necessary, be a role model in instruction and leadership, carry out the true essence of the school’s vision, focus training and assessment to bring about student achievement, build a professional learning community, communicate effectively to the staff and community, and build a culture and climate that is reflective of the school’s mission. In leadership positions, I have encouraged staff to present, facilitated teams to discuss student improvement and book studies, presented a research based view of collaboration to the staff and then implemented brainstorming sessions to apply what worked, encouraged staff to communicate with parents using websites and facilitated staff development to aid teachers in implementing family oriented websites. I applied what I had learned with passion. It took a lot of hours of preparation, delegating, and communicating to succeed.As a classroom teacher, I learned that an educator must continually work to improve himself and adjust to the needs of children based on the individual, the community, available resources, and using research based strategies. I recently embarked on a journey to become a National Board Certified Teacher and did accomplish that goal. I completed it by working with staff, community, and engaging in ongoing reflection.I am a person who never gives up, is ethical, professional, practices self improvement, and aspires to do what is right for children.
