I am currently a postdoctoral researcher under supervision of Prof. Dario Alessi at the MRC Protein Phosphorylation and Ubiquitylation Unit, Dundee university and of Prof. Kei Sakamoto from Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research, University of Copenhagen. I have been working on a main project to unravel novel phosphatases of AMPK. Additionally, I have been optimizing methods to selectively degrade phosphatases belong to PPM-type family based on PROTACs (proteolysis targeting chimera). This approach together with mass-spectrometry studies are used to identify potential novel substrates of these phosphatases. These works might be useful to developing improved treatments for Parkinson's disease and metabolic diseases such as type 2 diabetes. I obtained a PhD degree in Biochemistry and Biotechnology from Katholieke Universiteit (KU) Leuven, Belgium. In the lab of Prof. Patrick Van Dijck, I investigated the regulatory mechanism of trehalase enzyme in Arabidopsis thaliana, in order to engineer new transgenic plants with better drought stress tolerance.
