Sales Manager
Fpt Distribution Co., Ltd.
Duy Tan Str, Cau Giay Dist., Hanoi, Vietnam
This job was offered to me mainly because I was the one who had worked directly with them and been in the most important department where decisions about whether or not buying products from them were made. They hoped that my acquaintance with former colleagues would help raise their sales revenues. This environment was totally different from the one in my previous company. People here tended to be more independent, more dynamic, more ambitious and more competitive. Maybe these qualities of the employees contributed to the success of the company as a member of the largest IT group in Vietnam. In this new position, I learned how to make business plans, how to work with customers both face to face and on the phone, how to persuade them into providing their technological information and buying our products. But the problem was that our products always had higher price compared to the ones of our chief competitor due to the huge general and administrative expenses in such a big company like ours. We also had more products to be delivered while our operating system was bulkier and slower, therefore it often took the customers a lot of time to receive our products. Besides, the market that I was assigned was small and medium-sized business, who had tight budgets and could hardly afford our products. All of these above led to a rather small turnover, which made me totally depressed. After bearing the first child, I resigned to look after my son and keep finding another way for my career.
