We analyse processes, uncover inefficiencies in the process, streamline and/or automate the process. And finally, we build software/apps in support of the optimized process.

I am happiest investigating a problem/solution...and the "what if" space...quickly prototyping and trying to drive metrics...and working with great teams and individuals that are passionate about what they do. I have interest and invest in, firstly, good teams (highly capable, highly motivated) and, secondly, in product development (UX, usefulness and all-around-happiness-contributing factors). I have experience working with multi-disciplinary teams, for clients in telecom (videotron), banking(Desjardins), insurance(Intact/Belair direct, Desjardins) and e-commerce(YP, YPA). My current and primary focus is working with startups, first in advising on strategic planning (i.e customer, product dev and contextual relevance) and second in tactical execution (from core architecture/tech stack selection to the actual implementation (web, mobile and back-end in the cloud).

IAAH is an affiliated company of Industrial Alliance Financial Services. IAAH focus on the auto and home insurance, primarily in the province of Québec.As a web analyst, my primary role is to understand the overall business needs and the particular needs of our internal clients, to architect/design and implement technical solutions that are aligned with business needs. This includes identification of systems components, of tasks and planning the sequence of execution based on priorities. In this role, I often need to mitigate the clients needs/wishes versus technical feasibility and the time/budget constraints. In this role, clear communication with all stakeholders is crucial. In particular, I often needs to explain technological opportunities and risks in a non technical language, accessible to management. The communication aspect extends to writing clear design and software documentation and insuring uniform understanding across the development team. In addition to participating in many workgroups (Kaizen and post-Kaizen), I also spearheaded a number of initiatives. One of which resulted in the reduction of bug fix procedure to 63 days, from 425 days. One other initiative I spearheaded was the design and implementation of an Object Oriented course (using Java) and introduction to SQL programming to other developers within the team, over a period of 5 months. These developers are experienced in the IBM RPG environment. My role often extended into coaching the junior programmers using pair programming, code reviews, sharing of books, using particular context to illustrate technical merits of various design patterns, igniting and fuelling technical debates.
