About Travis C.
Travis Chapman is the author of several books including, P.R.O.P.P. Curriculum Guide (for Young Black Males), Socks: Creating An Atmosphere of Expectation, Conviction and Success and Bowtie Tuesday: Creating A Positive School Culture. Travis is also a school administrator, master teacher, and educational strategist who understands the role that educators must play in the village as we raise our children. He believes that we must continuously implement strategies that will positively impact students in the educational system. In order to reach students who were affected by socio-economic challenges, he co-developed the “S.T.A.R.S.” program. Success Through Academic Rigor and Support (S.T.A.R.S.) is a program that is committed to the success of the “at risk” 9th grade population by providing support and resources that will assist in limiting the number of academic failure, reducing absenteeism, decreasing discipline referrals, and closing the achievement gap. The S.T.A.R.S. program has experienced success over the past two years by increasing the promotion rate of 9th grade students. Travis’ work has been featured in the January 2013 Issue of Atlanta Magazine, as well as on GCPS TV.
