Hi! My name is Travis Curd, and I am currently studying computer coding and programming as I pursue a new career in a field that I find very stimulating and very FUN to pour myself into. I’ve always felt that in order to perform at my highest level, I need to truly enjoy my ‘work’. After spending over a decade in healthcare, I realized that I no longer felt that same drive and enjoyment, so I realized it was time to move on to something that does provide that. Enter: the world of coding!As I alluded to, I’ve spent the majority of my adult life working in the healthcare industry. I studied relentlessly to graduate at the top of my class as a Doctor of Chiropractic, demonstrating the capacity to learn, and most importantly retain, very information-intensive subject matter and critically apply that knowledge-base. I worked for several different clinics, where my work ethic resulted in substantial business growth, as well as personal growth too! Due to my leadership and overall performance, I was constantly put in the position of the ‘lead’ chiropractor at each clinic. At my last position, I eventually worked my way from being ‘only’ a provider, to lead Chiropractor, to becoming the Clinic Director - having oversight of the entire clinic operational workflow. During this time period, my interaction with Electronic Health Record programs, and other computer programs, became more and more important. I constantly ran into difficulties with poorly designed interfaces, and it sparked a curiosity in me as to how these were developed in the first place. Over the last year or two, I began diving into the world of computer languages and basic program design, and was able to integrate what I learned into developing some simple templates and macros for use with EHRs in our office. As my passion for healthcare began to wane as I felt I was at the end of the road in terms of knowledge growth, my passion for computer coding increased linearly - so much so that I made the bold decision to completely pivot into a new career path accordingly!
