The focus of this research fellowship is an artificial intelligence system that uses images from a digital dermatoscope called DermoSight and diagnoses from clinicians and pathologists to learn to recognize skin cancer and other skin conditions.

Research in this fellowship focused on a nucleotide excision repair (NER) capacity study of the general population, as well as analyzing the geographic practice preferences, influential factors for specialty choice, diversity, and career goals of graduating medical students, particularly those intending to specialize in dermatology versus other specialties. My duties as clinical research coordinator for this study included IRB correspondence, recruiting, registering, and consenting participants, assisting with skin biopsies, data logging, and specimen handling and transfer to the basic science lab.
