Product Engineering Supervisor

Project Engineer II in split systems R&D group with key responsibilities including all aspects of product maintenance, quality improvement, cost improvement and manufacturing support. Lead design engineer for development of commercial split 6.5-20 ton units to comply with 2025 DOE requirements for use of Low GWP refrigerants. Daily responsibilities include:• Coordinate activities of cross-functional teams to complete implementation of new product introductions, process changes and improvements ensuring adequate design for manufacturing while meeting customer needs and minimizing time to market• Review project plans, proposals & objectives, recommending changes to plans and schedules as necessary• Assign responsibilities and build schedules based on project specifications• Design and conduct tests to determine project progress• Manage major capital projects from development of initial request for expenditure through project closure to ensure project is executed within time, cost & budget constraints • Actively engage with vendors of various components and sub-systems to successfully develop the product through active collaboration, specification, review, evaluation & analysis of the purchased parts• Comply with state and federal regulations and ensure a clean and safe environment.• Maintain thorough knowledge of latest manufacturing technologies, techniques & practices• Conduct necessary background research, analysis & testing of various design options as it relates to key requirements including product and test standards, performance, cost, manufacturability, installability, serviceability & project schedule, scope & cost• Investigate and troubleshoot product design related problems and opportunities, documenting finds and performing corrective/improvement changes• Identify opportunities for product improvements and exploit these through design modifications• Create reports and presentations on product and project activities periodically and as required
Rotational Project Engineer
One of only four engineers selected to participate in Rheem's engineering leadership development program. The program consists of rotations through four departments including Research and Development, Quality Assurance, Operations, and Advance Manufacturing.As an R&D engineer I was the team lead for product maintenance on all ULE commercial split-system products. I also worked to redesign the commercial split-system units to meet new efficiency standards. My work led directly to the launch of 6 condensing units, 2 heat pumps, and matching air handlers that are fully compliant with DOE EL3, ASHRAE 90.1-2013, and California Title 24. I also led and contributed to several cost improvement projects that resulted in annual savings of over $835,000.During my Operations rotation I was the process engineer for a production line producing commercial split products. This included being the engineering contact for all issues related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost. I was also singularly responsible for the development of line balances, standard work, workstation design, and PFEP for the new product line I helped to develop during my R&D rotation.

-Work on Continuous Improvement team to develop standard work for a new model line-Analyze and plan manufacturing space, equipment, tooling, personnel, and time requirements for the manufacture of new products on a new product line-Apply various technical problem-solving techniques to evaluate recommended manufacturing improvement strategies and programs with a focus on lean manufacturing-Analyze operations, processes, and manufacturing sequences to make improvements and reduce operating time, cost, and other waste-Investigate, develop, and implement solutions to production bottlenecks and stoppages in production considering such factors as safety, ergonomics, quality, and cost-Participate in Kaizen events with representatives from various areas of production-Implemented Toyota Production Systems, TPS, principles across both existing and new production lines-Responsible for creation and implementation of a Job Breakdown Sheet, JBS, for service coil production
