As an Electrical BIM Specialist, I am tasked with providing Coordinated 3D BIM Models consisting all of the Electrical components we are responsible for installing for all of our Plan-Spec jobs and numerous Design Build projects.

Autodesk Point layout is an add on to Revit MEP which allows the user to input "points" into the various (user defined) locations of the project. These points can later be exported, along with a DXF background, to a format that is read by some sort of field layout equipment. I currently operate the Sokkia Robotic Total Station to pinpoint locations of site poles, underground conduit, conduit stub ups, transformer and distribution equipment pads, etc. I am also responsible for inputting the points into the program used by the Total Station(Autodesk Point Layout) when creating the BIM model.

After gladly accepting the opportunity to move to the Fire Alarm division of Amteck, I have found myself facing new challenges and obstacles everyday, and it has been great. In this new field, I have had the opportunity to implement many of the different things that I have learned over the years. My responsibility as the Fire Alarm Design Assistant is to assist in the Bidding, Designing, and Project Management of different projects. Being new to the field, every bid and every job has taught me invaluable knowledge that I have been able to implement into the next job. Right now, I am in the process of achieving my Nicet Level I certification, with Level III being the goal.

I was hired by Amteck after High School to teach the Engineering department Revit MEP as well as develope and manage the pieces and parts that would be needed to complete an electrical project in the program. It was a completely new program to the team members and they needed someone who would be able to devote themselves to staying current with the program and teaching them. During this time, I learned invaluable skills such as; Electrical Design, Engineering standards and processes, as well as numerous CAD & BIM skills.
