At Quantech Design I have been involved in a wide range of industries and projects including truck & trailer design, agricultural machinery, architectural design, structural analysis and project management for a small mechanical design consulting firm. This position has given me a great range of experience from initial concept design of large machinery, to detailed component analysis including FEA and detailed drafting for parts and assemblies, with a key focus on design for manufacture. The role involves significant collaboration with clients to achieve the optimal design for their products, and always required the use of my engineering experience and judgement for each and every product I have been involved with. A selection of key projects include:• Trout River Australia – Live bottom trailers. I was the manager of all CAD models and design updates for the live bottom trailers and attachments for approximately 3 years until they were purchased by MaxiTrans• Remax Doors – Concertina door. I designed and provided the wind rating using FEA for large industrial doors of various sizes• Optimum Grain Silos & Augers – Elevator Tower. I designed the large tower structure in collaboration with a structural engineer, and all walkways & ladders to Australian standardsI have also taken on the role of business manager for the company, managing all business processes, strategy, finance, quality control and documentation with the goal to help Quantech grow sustainable financial and business practices into the future. I am a partner of the business and look forward to continuing our growth as a business while providing high quality design solutions for our industry.

In my position as a design engineer, I was the sole mechanical engineer on a project to design an electric personnel transport vehicle for underground coal mines. I’ve was able to further improve my leadership skills while managing 3 international PhD electrical engineering students from Swinburne University who collaborated on the project. I developed my report writing skills whilst utilising many different engineering skills designing complete component systems including the cooling system, explosive atmosphere protection, development of concept energy usage calculations using drive cycle analysis and overall layout design using CAD.• Designed an innovative method for explosive atmosphere protection to create the possibility of electric vehicles in underground coal environments• Investigated methods to convert current diesel vehicles to electric power for prototype testing• Managed all electrical engineering decisions, product selections, and project requirements from PhD students from Swinburne University• Self-taught usage of specialized thermodynamic Flowmaster software for cooling system design and verification• Managed all CAD models and assemblies using Unigraphics NX Additional roles included collaborating with industry partners GE and Rio Tinto - Kestrel Coal with regular presentations and meetings, as well as electric vehicle component research and selection. I was also part of a trip to the GE mining manufacturing facility in Maitland NSW to analyse their manufacturing facilities to help implement an efficient design to reduce manufacturing time and costs.

Throughout the early months of 2015 I was given a great opportunity to learn in a new industry as a laboratory technician for Cofield wines in the Rutherglen region. I was in charge of all of the daily testing of all the different wines including sulphur levels, alcohol, Baumé, volatile acidity, pH levels and enzymatic sugar and malic acid levels. Tasks included:• Accurately determining the various chemical compositions of wines while ensuring systematic record keeping• Preparation of precise chemical solutions for testing and ensuring cleanliness standards for all equipment was maintained • Utilising spectrophotometry for enzymatic testing• Assisting the head winemaker in calculations and problem solving including stuck fermentations• Bottling and disgorging production line work for various wines• Cellar hand work including large volume wine transfers

Suspension Engineer: 2009-2013I was a design and manufacturing engineer for the Monash Motorsport suspension team for 5 years, which significantly broadened my engineering and problem solving skills. Each year a clean sheet design approach is taken for an international university competition to design, build and race a Formula-SAE car. Components I designed include full wishbone assemblies, wheel hubs and bearing selection. I was also heavily involved in mould construction for composite parts such as bodywork and seats. I have attended multiple personally funded Optimum G vehicle dynamics seminars, and had a significant involvement in the overall kinematic suspension design and layout, along with tyre selection and testing.TAFE Manager: 2011As part of the Monash Motorsport team, we were required to attend TAFE for machining and welding courses to help us manufacture all of the components for the car. In 2011 I was the manager for organising which parts were allocated to be manufactured each week with the variously skilled students and the relative priorities of each component. I was also managing what was taught to the students, which involved reducing unnecessary components of the regular TAFE courses to fast track the development for new students each year, ensuring they were manufacturing useful components for the car as soon as possible. Head of Driver Training: 2012, 2013I was a driver at the various competitions from 2011-2013, and for my final year project of my mechanical engineering degree I analysed both the influence drivers had on the scoring at completion, and various methods to optimise the selection and training of drivers. I gained extensive knowledge of human psychology, and significant experience in data analysis using both MoTeC I2 Pro and Microsoft Excel. I implemented a selection process for new drivers, and a training regime including fitness exercises and driving simulator experience.
