Oversee engineering, construction management, and project management for capital projects at a wood products manufacturing facility. Responsible for budget and schedule development, preliminary engineering and design development, detail engineering review and approval, field engineering, site management, and project controls through the life cycle of projects. Oversee execution of civil, structural, architectural, electrical, and mechanical design and construction. Perform all erosion and sediment control inspections, and manage site storm water program. Responsible for the implementation of the quality program including completion and retention of inspection documentation, tracking and disposition of NCR’s, and overseeing all third party testing and survey verification. Providing technical direction to suppliers and subcontractors while serving as a advisor for Civil/Structural, Bolting and mechanical fabrication and field performed installation on a large, mission critical, Nuclear, NRC governed, NQA-1 (1994) compliant government EPC project. Daily contact with construction management and sub-contractors coordinating the execution or contributing to complex and technical tasks such as material takeoff’s, estimates, scheduling, technical evaluation of proposals, development of ECR’s, FCR’s, and RFP’s. Serve as the project’s Min/Max Lead STR, as well as the responsible STR for various construction scopes such as supply of QL-1 thru 4 rebar, Form deck, fasteners, batch plant support and other concrete supply, engineered fill, emulsified asphalt for excavations, QL-1 fabrication of penetration plates, penetration seals, pipe support assemblies, embedded composite beam fabrication, embedded plates, and auxiliary hollow structural steel. Contributor in many critical path civil/structural construction scopes, and provide instruction to Craft, Quality and Field management for the successful installation and buy-off of post-installed concrete anchors for a highly governed design in a perilous nuclear environment.

Responsibilities consist of monitoring sub-contractor and engineering schedules, creating construction, proposal, and engineering schedules, ensuring project specifications are followed, monitoring cost of engineering and construction projects, reviewing construction submittals, conducting bid reviews from sub-contractors, analyzing cost and schedule impact of change orders, leading schedule review meetings, and producing weekly and monthly reporting on cost and schedule. Involved with mitigation analysis for construction delays and site conditions on a Federal mechanical and electrical upgrade project.

Project controls work for Fukushima design and plant modification design included planning and scheduling in P6, cost and performance metrics in PRISM, progress updates for both cost and schedule, and bid schedules. I was the lead on merging schedules from P6 into the cost modules in PRISM. Assisted with cost estimating for bids on new engineering design packages, and was the lead on resource management for all design projects.

Worked as a general contractor on over 15 residential remodels, additions, new construction projects, and as a sub-contractor on 3 commercial projects. Worked in all phases of construction such as demolition, foundations, framing, electrical, plumbing, and finish carpentry work. Served as crew lead on smaller projects and various phases of larger projects. I also estimated and self-performed an array of residential construction projects. Window and soffit replacement, custom cabinets and shelving, trim work, French drain systems, and minor roof and home repairs.

I gained a tremendous amount of experience during my internship as a field engineer getting the opportunity to work with three different groups. I worked in the work package group creating work packages for installations of rebar, embedded plates, and placing concrete. I worked in the surveying group leveling tanks for testing, surveying control lines, embedded plates, and form work. I also worked with the installation group verifying rebar, penetrations, and embedded plates were properly installed before concrete pours. I also monitored concrete pours and assisted with resolving nonconformance issues on site.
