Multiple weeklong leadership and wilderness skills canoe trips on the Buffalo River, serving as the initial training for Camp Classen counselors. We concentrate on learning river travel and wilderness living as well as cooking, navigation, communication, expedition behaviors (traditional NOLS lesson) and other leadership/interpersonal skills that generate self-awareness, confidence and appreciation for nature. We learn to have fun and make good decisions in the outdoors.

Thrive Outside is an Outdoor Industry Association initiative to strengthen partnerships between local organizations by reinforcing positive outdoor experiences for kids and families. I work with middle schools around the city, YMCA locations, UCO students and local organizations to develop and deliver great outdoor experiences for students and their families. The goal is to make the outdoors a habit.

Soon to retire - Dec 31, 2016My staff administers both the use of state issued bond proceeds (for the construction of government office buildings, state highways, flood controls, etc) and the repayment of these debt obligations through lease agreements with associated state agencies. The Oklahoma Capitol Improvement Authority (OCIA) staff supports the State Bond Advisor in the issuance of revenue bonds and is authorized to acquire, hold and dispose of real and personal property to achieve statutorily imposed duties. As the Administrator of OCIA, I make presentations to the OCIA which is comprised of the Governor, State Treasurer, Lieutenant Governor, Director of the Office of Management & Enterprise Services, Director of Human Services, Secretary of the Tax Commission, Director of the Department of Tourism and the Director of the Department of Transportation.I have particularly enjoyed transforming the OCIA staff tasks from primarily data-entry duties to financial analysis and reporting. Staff now has been empowered to leverage state electronic financial information and utilize their professional skills more fully to analyze and report the activities of the OCIA.

Managed the administrative functions, research policy, contribute to the Oklahoma Economic Report and administer the EDGE and Tobacco funds for the state. Directed statewide procurement savings project that initiated an overhaul to purchasing laws and practices.

Managed administrative functions, liaison duties with legislative staff including funding for digital transition and negotiate state digital transmitter tower leases. Coordinated the network strategic digital television plan. Developed formal purchasing and hiring procedures. Spear-headed agency culture change.

Developed proprietary financial system and decentralized procurement and asset management processes

Researched and developed State Budget as directed by Governor's Office. Assisted in the development and promotion of the offices initial financial reporting software. Served as cabinet secretary designee on three retirement boards and served as president of the state financial managers association.

Primary duties were to reconcile the investment portfolio for the system. Additionally, I introduced the first desktop computer to the office and utilized its functionality to improve the efficiency of office tasks and provide regular reports.
