This disaster led to the destruction of over 90,000 homes and 28,000 rental units, left more than 40,000 homes without electricity, emergency sheltering of 11,699 residents, and rescue of 28,000 people.• Established and oversaw pre- and post-storm disaster shelter and organized volunteer response, including 2K+ unplanned volunteers, 50+ local VOADs (volunteer organizations active in disasters), and multiple faith-based organizations in August of 2021 during hurricane Ida.• Led emergency communications team and provided emergency operations center of Denham Springs with high-frequency and ultra-high-frequency radio capabilities to enable alternative ways of communication during a disaster.
