Plans, tests, recommends, and implements network, file server, mainframe, and workstation hardware and software; configures routers, switches, and network management systems. Monitors networks, email, phone, file servers, internet and wireless connections to ensure the availability of services; serves as technical specialist in network problems and emergencies; troubleshoots, repairs and resolves problems and issues. Investigates alternatives and researches development of strategic implementations of network components; recommends network solutions for short and long term network projects. Troubleshoots network to maintain continuity and availability of networks; checks and addresses alarms and warnings from firewall, routers, and spam filters. Assures that daily backup system is done as scheduled; restores files, databases and other information as needed. Maintains the integrity and security of the network; monitors data retention, security and data backups.
