About Travis Wagner

Regarding my professional level work, I am a data-driven, pragmatic problem solver in the environmental field. Throughout my career as a consultant, in academia, and local government, I have focused on waste management and reduction within the framework of sustainability, product stewardship, and increasingly climate change and energy. Over the past few years my project focus (through grants and consulting) has been supporting municipalities in adopting strategies, programs, and policies to reduce the disposal of wastes. These multiple projects focused on: identifying, promoting, and implementing source reduction strategies and increasing recycling for single-use plastic bags, straws, and polystyrene foodservice ware; conducting litter and waste characterization studies; examining the economic and user viability of switching from bins to carts for improved recycling rates; pilot curbside food waste collection programs; analyzing pay as you throw options for curbside collection of trash to improve recycling; and supporting the planning for sustainability, solid waste, and zero waste. Recently I have been focusing on strategies to increase EV charging opportunities to support climate action planning.
