Provide tertiary support level and direction in the support and maintenance of approximately 15000 workstations throughout Duke School of Medicine departments and divisions. Responsible for hands-on implementation of back-end solutions and integration of systems.• Coordinate the integration of newly-acquired departments into OASIS Computing’s environment.• Stay abreast of security releases from vendors for supported operating systems and applications. Expediently test and deploy any updates as necessary, communicating to user base any potential impact.• Leverage HCL BigFix Endpoint Management service by designing new fixlets for large-scale deployment of additional software or reconfiguration of system settings, and new custom analyses to collect additional information from supported systems, as needed.• Regularly meet with assistant dean of computing and other leadership for project planning and the team’s technical strategic vision.• Manage secure folders on file shares, including maintaining data storage adherence to Human Subject Research Data compliance and regularly providing access rights reports to departmental clinical research units.

Responsible for over 400 workstations, printers, and other peripheral devices, and ancillary support for application issues. Act as primary support and liaison between the Duke Eye Center and DHTS to respond to business needs. Was selected to be an understudy to the team's technical leads to work on special projects and back-end tasks.

Provided support for over 500 end-users by configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining systems in a mixed-platform environment. Observed industry trends, implemented new technologies, and coordinated with other IT groups at UNC to meet department demands. Assumed overall responsibility for department’s IT after manager’s departure.• Kept upper management apprised of the overall technical status of the department.• Responsible for creating folders and overseeing access rights on Lineberger’s file servers.• Managed a part-time technician assisting with the day-to-day IT needs of the department.• Coordinated with School of Medicine IT group to migrate Lineberger’s network printers to their own separate VLAN.• Developed AD group policies to prevent shared equipment computers in the research labs from spreading viruses via USB drives.• Created links within UNC’s DFS namespace for the department’s file. Rewrote group policies controlling drive mapping to use the new DFS links.• Created Perl script to keep track of static IP addresses in the department subnet to replace the previous method of manually tracking their assignment with an Excel spreadsheet.• Converted the old Excel spreadsheet inventory into an online SharePoint database attached to an Access frontend to track department computers and quickly generate reports.• Replaced the department's original collection of distinct system images for each make and model of computer with two images (64-bit and 32-bit) that could be deployed on any model, greatly reducing the time of both preparing a new computer and of keeping the images up-to-date.
