Pointwise, Inc. was acquired by Cadence Design Systems, Inc. in April 2021.

Work closely with clients in every major engineering discipline, including aerospace, marine, turbomachinery, automotive, and energy to strengthen their CFD processes by developing interactive and automated meshing solutions using Pointwise. Demonstrate best practices in grid generation, solver setup, and solution postprocessing through publications, videos, webinars, and AIAA workshops with clients and software partners.

Worked in the sales and marketing department as an application engineer focused on demonstrating the capabilities of Pointwise software to potential customers, often involving the development of custom automated grid generation solutions through the use of Pointwise's Glyph scripting language. Composed and narrated the first Pointwise demonstration videos aimed at introducing the high level features available in the software while also generating the material used during the first Pointwise webinars.

Worked under Dr. Brian Dennis where research included aerodynamic and hydrodynamic shape optimization using CFD, as well as topology and structural optimization using FEM. Projects often involved either unconstrained or constrained iterative local or global optimization techniques. As a master's student, thesis work involved coupling unsteady CFD with the differential evolution algorithm in an automated design optimization framework to quickly improve the design of a constrained system. The modular framework was successfully used to maximize the aerodynamic efficiency of a vertical axis wind turbine by optimizing the blade shape. Additional research focused on utilizing CUDA enabled GPUs to improve the performance of sparse matrix operations and ultimately the solution to large sparse systems of linear equations often encountered in CCM applications.

Worked as the lead aerodynamicist on the NASA N+3 research program designed to identify and classify key technologies to be used by future commercial transports in the 2030-2035 time period. Specific topics investigated included technologies and advancements made in aviation and aerospace throughout the conceptual development and detailed design of the oblique flying wing aircraft. Also investigated the feasibility of boundary layer control through the use of active and passive devices.

Responsible for functional testing, installation testing, performance testing, and bug verification for Gridgen and Pointwise software. Reported and logged bugs in both Pointwise and Gridgen.

Responsible for analyzing part discrepancies made by Vought suppliers on the Boeing 787 and logging the discrepancies for further analysis. Participated in a software development project aimed at automating the logging of part discrepancies for all Vought aircraft programs.

Responsible for helping maintain, repair, and build kit and certified aircraft. Aided in conducting annual inspections for Cessna 175 and Piper PA-22 Tri-Pacer general aviation aircraft. Was also involved in the restoration of two Piper PA-22 Pacer aircraft including cutting and shaping new engine cowlings.
