About Travis Dietz

As a radiation engineer at Raytheon Intelligence & Space, my work is critical to the successful execution and survival of high value space- and airborne-based programs. Relying on the learning tools I mastered during my Ph.D. program, I am continually developing my knowledge of radiation effects on electronic components and radiation modeling software. These efforts were rewarded with my assignment as the nuclear survivability integrated product team lead for a fast-paced airborne program.My passion for nuclear and radiation science and engineering is predicated by my work as a Senior Reactor Operator of the Maryland University 250 kW TRIGA nuclear reactor and as an operator of a 7-32 MeV linear electron beam accelerator. Through my graduate work, I demonstrated the capability to execute a number of experimental techniques including pulse radiolysis, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-Ray spectroscopy, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. I prepared grant applications, published, presented at multiple national conferences, and received several awards.Finally, I am active in my community serving as the President of the University of Chicago Los Angeles Alumni Club. In my spare time I have competed in the US Squash Skill Level Championship and enjoy exploring the California wilderness.
