For Summer 2018, I joined the Student Involvement & Leadership team at Oxford College of Emory University as the NODA Graduate Intern. This is an experience I will never forget! I helped with the following tasks:• Assisted the Student Involvement & Leadership (SIL) team with designing and executing Summer and Fall 2018 orientation programs (e.g. Own Oxford, PAL Leadership Training, WOW Leadership Training, New Student Orientation) for 500+ incoming first-year students• Planned and facilitated activities for student leaders and first-year students utilizing CAS learning outcomes and student development theory (e.g., Life Road Maps, True Colors activity, Identity Signs activity, service-learning opportunity at Covington Housing Authority, Dooley Shuffle Lip Sync Battle)• Learned how to design a fully integrated, mission-focused leadership seminar for first-year students. Divided into 12 weekly sessions, the course answered the following questions: what is leadership, what is good leadership, and what do good leaders do? • Successfully organized logistics (e.g., transportation, food, promotional items) for student leadership training and the Own Oxford extended orientation program with 60+ student participants• Assisted the Associate Director of Student Involvement & Leadership with oversight of Own Oxford extended orientation program and New Student Orientation program• Compiled assessment survey materials following completion of Own Oxford extended orientation program. Feedback will be used to improve the Own Oxford program for future participants• Managed a $15,000 budget for Own Oxford leadership training and program (60 student participants, 12 student leaders) and helped reconcile all purchases for Associate Director of SIL and Assistant Dean of Oxford College• Led marketing initiatives for New Student Orientation (i.e., Welcome video, Guidebook advertisements)
