My first job was incredibly fun! I got to make balloon animals and balloon hats for kids in Downtown Disney. Luckily, my first job also taught me more than I ever could've hoped for!Being an independent contractor I quickly learned that if I didn't make any balloons, I didn't make any money. This meant sales became a huge aspect of my job, so I learned all I could to effectively market and sell my balloon animals. I consumed as many books and articles on the subject as I possibly could until sales and marketing became natural for me.Then my customer service and relationship marketing skills developed. If I could connect and engage a customer, that usually meant a large tip. My social and interpersonal skills developed quickly!
