When I think of a leader, I think of someone who is consistently accountable to the commitments they make. I think of someone who understands that they don’t know everything, but recognize that there is an opportunity to expand their knowledge with every new individual that they encounter. A leader, to me, is someone who understands a team's results are directly correlated to how clearly the vision is communicated. Leaders empower the people around them to think outside of the box, to challenge how things are done today with the goal of doing it better tomorrow. They aggressively listen to their people, provide calculated risks in an effort to develop them and foster an environment where everyone understands that no one is perfect. Finally, I believe a true leader embraces change and the opportunities that come with it.I’m a business professional who has studied and practiced accounting for 20 years in a variety of challenging auditing, reporting and business environments. The qualities above are what I strive for every day and I’m lucky enough to work at a company where there are limitless examples of this at every turn.
