I am Travis Koekemoer, a highly motivated individual born and raised in Pretoria, South Africa. My passion for academic and athletic pursuits has led me on an incredible journey of personal growth and experience.I embarked on my academic journey in 2021 when I left for the United States to attend Campbell University. However, after a year at Campbell, I realized that my true passion lay in Computer Science, so I made the decision to transfer to NC State University to pursue my dreams.The move to NC State was driven by my desire to excel both academically and athletically. I am proud to be part of NC State's track and cross-country team, which has taught me the importance of discipline and perseverance in achieving my goals. Before starting university in the US, I faced an unexpected gap year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During that time, I made the most of the opportunity by working for an IT company in Lesotho, where I completed a challenging 6-month hybrid internship. This hands-on experience provided me with valuable skills that I know will be essential in my future career.Balancing my athletic responsibilities with rigorous academic coursework has not been easy, but my dedication to hard work and time management have allowed me to maintain a 4.0 GPA. The recognition I received as a member of the ACC-All academic team further fueled my determination to succeed.Growing up in South Africa has given me a unique worldview, as I have been exposed to various cultures and perspectives. I am a sociable person who enjoys interacting and connecting with people from different backgrounds. These experiences have broadened my horizons and enriched my understanding of the world.However, my true passion lies in technological innovation. I am fascinated by the potential of technology to transform lives and industries, and that's why I am pursuing a degree in Computer Science with a focus on Cyber Security.
