About Travis Mavrich

As a scientist, I am fascinated by the field of genomics and the powerful ways it can impact the world around us. Through independent and collaborative research projects over the past 15 years, I have investigated how genomes are structured, how they function, and how they evolve. These projects have involved bacteriophage, prokaryotic, and eukaryotic model organisms as well as a variety of genomic technologies. As a result, I have cultivated a unique combination of molecular and computational biology skills that can help research & development teams in the biotech and biopharma industries tackle complex scientific problems and derive new biological insights, products, and services. As a molecular biologist, I have experience with: DNA and RNA isolation and purification; PCR and RT-PCR; cloning and strain transformation; chromatin immunoprecipitation; flow cytometry; microbial cell culture; bacteriophage isolation and purification; sample preparation for microarrays and next generation sequencing. As a computational biologist, I have experience with: programming in Python, R/RStudio, and Linux/Unix; MySQL databases; Git and GitHub version control; virtual machines; high performance computing environments; sequence alignment and phylogenetics; transcriptome analysis; genome annotation; data mining and data visualization.

Listed skills include Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, Bacteriophage Genetics, Phylogenetics, and 22 others.
