As an Academic Advisor within the college, I assist student in developing graduation plans to help enable them to graduate with a degree on time. Specifically, I work with Exercise Science students, helping them determine courses and schedules which direct them towards a career path or graduate school upon graduation. I also serve as a liaison for students seeking information that may or may not pertain to my specific duties. This could include career advice, health professions advising, opportunities to study abroad, counseling, and many others. I built many of the tools used in our advising office, leveraging my knowledge of Google Sheets (and other G Suite for Education products) to enable us to handle a large volume of advisees.

I advise students in the Beaver College of Health Sciences at Appalachian State University. I work primarily with Exercise Science students assisting them in navigating their academic curriculum. I also direct students to other appropriate resources on campus and, in general, serve as a sounding board for students who want to talk through their academic progress.

I teach 12 credits each semester (4 3-credit classes) in areas related to strength & conditioning, exercise physiology, biomechanics, fitness assessment, and kinesiology. I also engage in departmental and university service by serving and chairing a variety of committees.

I served as the director of the undergraduate strength & conditioning concentration which entailed selecting student to have in the program, overseeing its curriculum and preparing students to become personal trainers, strength coaches, and attend graduate school.
