As a literacy coach, I serve teachers at my middle school. The objective of my practice is to support teachers in improving their practice. I employ the Impact Cycle and Student-Focused Coaching methods, facilitating reflective conversations and peer collaboration, modeling or supporting instruction at teachers' request, or assisting with differentiation. My work is teacher-driven and student-oriented, and it's a pleasure to serve the community as a coach.

LETRS facilitators provide training in Voyager-Sopris' LANGUAGE ESSENTIALS FOR TEACHERS OF READING, WRITING AND SPELLING. During this six part seminar, I provide direct training in the history of language and teaching language, critical phonics intervention strategies, vocabulary and word work strategies, and assessment data management. This curriculum is designed for elementary teachers but can be scaled up to work for middle and secondary grade faculty.

As a 7th grade teacher, I taught the New York State 7th grade ELA curriculum. This included teaching complex fiction and non-fiction texts, English language mechanics, writing, public speaking, and encouraging and supporting young readers and writers at all levels. I worked with my department to fashion modifications to the module's writing curriculum, adding weekly writing instruction, writing time, and rich responses. Under the advisement of my mentors and administrators I also implemented Whole Brain Teaching (aka Power Teaching) models to improve student management. Additionally, I ran the afterschool Dungeons & Dragons club with a number of 8th graders.
