Senior Developer
Designed and maintained the subscription billing platform which created over 10 million transactions in 9 different currencies and supported over 400,000 active members. This platform was responsible for a majority of the company's revenue.My two person team implemented new features to support the ever-changing requirements of the finance, marketing, data, front-end engineering and customer relations teams.Integrated with over 10 external vendors via various web API protocols (REST, SOAP, RPC, Message Queues, etc.) and through batch processing using flat files. Each integration required in-depth knowledge of the 3rd party software.Identified customer relations' pain points and created requirements to streamline their experience. I then worked with the product owner to prioritize and implement the features.Assisted with migrating the billing application described below to a 3rd Party Commercial Product called Zuora. At the time of the migration, our homegrown system had 400,000 active accounts, supported 9 currencies and had over 7 Million transactions.Assisted the Data Team in exporting data to our AWS S3 based Data Warehouse. Used Hive and Presto to create a reporting dashboard for the Finance team.Guided IT department on all facets of the architecture from the Big IP Load Balancer, to the configuration of the master/slave PostgreSQL databases. Helped facilitate moving the application to AWS RDS and EC2 instances. Periods of being a solo developer or a team of 3 for 8 years on this project with some minor help from a few friendly front-end developers. I was a mentor to junior developers.Wrote integration tests using Ruby.Developer on a custom Ruby on Rails community website. When it was shut down in 2010, it had 300,000 registered users and 30,000 active users.
