Here at Asian Pacific Health Venture I was able to sharpen my skills in human resources department. During this time many companies were going through transition with how benefits were offered and the new laws that each company were to abide by. Covered CA was one of the most complex and while easy for some, difficult transitions that created plenty work and opportunity to educate not only myself but others around me on things that were changing for our employees. In this role as an HR Generalist I focused on recruitment, benefits, on-boarding, training, and launching programs such as Internships. I feel I gained a great deal from the workers around me and became more efficient in my work and paid a great more attention to detail. One of the different challenges that I was fortunate to face was setting up the internship program and perfecting the current program already in place. As a whole I was able to staff interns in multiple departments ranging from human resources to information technology, and customer service in a clinical environment. Creating a learning and fun environment took a great deal of skill while grasping the minds of those that seek to gain the same knowledge I have and more.

I learned a great deal here at Dubols as a hr manager. I was literally as you say learning on the job. Although I had 5 years of hr experience already I really had no experience as a manager managing all staff from a human resources standpoint. From claims, benefits, payroll, to employee counseling I did it all. i was able to submerge into the management role and not only sharpen my skills but gain new skills and techniques through experience and training. Although the environment was not as fast paced as many others I've worked in, it was very demanding and success was expected in every area. Answering to CEO and owner I was able to lead and nurture the direction of the company and put my input into many areas that would improve how people perceived our services. Implementing tracking systems for required documents, time tracking for efficient payroll, as well as putting together benefits packages for two company locations was the first step in making things run smoother within the company. As a manager my skill to adapt played a big part in adapting to each employee with different unique needs as there was no HR in place prior. Learning how each individual work best individually and helping employees work together in different ways was a success that only increased the productivity of employees in the office and the field. I was also able to build new relationships between multiple companies to put Dubols on more patients radar, offering a better quality of service and care. As every workplace has its challenges, running the human resources department alone for some time was the biggest. I learned more hands on knowledge than most learn through a training or education. This position has prepared me to be able to take on more unique management roles that reqiure detail and technique to be successful.
