While at George Butler I had the unique opportunity to partner with Kiewit on designing a $1.5 billion power plant. It was a complex project with many moving parts and players. However, as an engineering-led firm, creating the spaces that inspired my love of architecture wasn’t possible. It was an impressive firm, but I realized it was finally time to branch out and focus on creating the firm that I dreamed of working for. One that I had been seeking all these years, but reality always fell short of my expectations.

When I transitioned to Hollis & Miller I had the opportunity to project lead a design team in the construction of a new elementary school in Tulsa. I worked closely with the clients to push the limits of the future of educational design. It was an exciting project to be a part of. However, I didn’t want to get pigeon-holed into a niche market and was seeking to deepen my experience in other facets of architecture. I made the decision to move to GBA.

My time at Clockwork gave me the opportunity to develop my skills as an architect and manager within the company. The variety of projects enabled me to learn many different facets of architectural design and project management. Many of my ideas regarding how architecture should work was born out of my experience there. I noticed that people at Clockwork had a good work philosophy that matched my own, so this experience helped galvanize the ideas I had for my own firm. Wanting to have a broader knowledge base in the field of architecture I jumped on an opportunity to gain experience in the educational market with a larger firm.
