5-minute personal bio: I was born and grew up on the longest street in Sofia, Bulgaria (14th largest city in the European Union), attended an English-language high school (late 90s/early 00s vibe), and moved to the United States for college. The state of Kentucky was my first American home where I received a full academic scholarship to complete a Bachelor’s degree at Berea College, the first interracial and co-educational college in the American South. I pursued a double major in economics and mathematics. In my senior year, I won a mathematics fellowship to study for one semester at Yale University in Connecticut and complete my senior topic requirement. Once I graduated (2007), I relocated back to Sofia to start my career and complete the entry-level business analyst phase. In 3 years’ time, I determined I wanted to expand my horizons and was ready for an MBA. I chose to return to the American South (life is a circle!) and completed my MBA at Duke University in North Carolina (with one semester exchange at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea). After graduation (2012), I joined the ranks of management consulting at Kearney and relocated to New York City, which became my home for the next 12 years. I absolutely enjoyed the fashion and clubbing scene of New York City.I spent a little more than two years at Kearney and then transitioned to the brand-led companies of Heineken and Levi’s (9+ years combined, 2014-2023), doing an enormous amount of business analytics and rising to a Director. While at Levi’s, I frequently traveled to the head office in San Francisco, which became like a West Coast home to me. While being very analytical, I also wanted to keep my creativity awake so while in New York City, I completed a second graduate degree on evening, part-time basis at the Parsons School of Design at The New School (portfolio link below). It took 4 years (2015-2019) but I graduated with a Master of Science in Data Visualization.In 2024, I moved back to Sofia, Bulgaria, where I focus on personal projects such as apartment renovations, elderly caregiving, and book writing. I keep Sofia as a low-cost base but travel often. I am a dual citizen of the United States of America and Bulgaria.
