A High-End, Pleasure-Positive Community & Space For BIPOC Founded In Care, Consideration & ConsentI’ve spent a long time thinking about what I’d say when someone asks, “Why did you launch Experience Covet?”.Initially, I found myself trying to explain my thoughts concerning the lack and scarcity the black community experiences. How much time we spend fighting against our own desires and the frustrations we feel when those around us can’t see our potential or refuse to see our communal expansion. I soon realized that I needed to shift the narrative and focus on my desire for Experience Covet and how that desire is the foundation for what we’re cultivating here.By definition, desire is a strong feeling of wanting to have something or wishing for something to happen. Yet, society has boxed this word in, turning it into a trope only related to a person’s sexual desire. Black and Brown communities already experience these confinements while trying to live a fulfilling and pleasurable life. Why is it that when a person of color shares that they want to visit another country, someone turns their nose up? Why is it that when a person of color seeks healing through reiki or bodywork to heal trauma, another writes them off? Both are genuine desires that are not taken seriously because they don’t align with societal beliefs or the confines of systemic oppression. The saying, “The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb.” holds true to what Experience Covet stands for. I believe that the bonds we make by choice are just as important as those created by the water of the womb. Experience Covet is a covenant of aligned individuals with the same goal: community. In our space, you have the agency to define what your desires look like and feel like without stigma or the generational curses that hinder our growth. Each member in our community is honored as a whole individual, not as a trophy to be claimed or conquered.Do you know what I desire? I desire a safe space to openly engage, share resources, and build collaborative relationships. I desire more curated spaces for start-ups and well-established businesses and organizations to incubate and create beautiful experiences for our communities.I invite those whose desires align with our belief in consent culture, community growth, and the notion that you deserve pleasure and a safe and brave space to explore your whole self, to take this opportunity to join us.
