Spent 40+ years working in the technology business, mostly at senior exec level. I had engineering and technical marketing positions at MEDL, GEC Plessey Semiconductors & Mitel Semiconductor where I led the team that developed the first integrated IP phone processor. Then followed a stint at Mitel Telecom working on development of the first SIP PBXs.In 2004 I became co-founder and CTO of Communications Provider Timico which grew, in ten years, to a turnover of over £43m and 250 staff. At Timico I was involved in pretty much every aspect of the business. This included running net ops and development teams, sales, and pre-sales. My blog, trefor.net served as a very high profile aspect of Timico's own marketing activity and I was part of a multi-disciplinary team that performed due diligence in acquiring five ISPs and was active in the successful integration of these into the company infrastructure.My time at Timico saw the growth of the broadband subscriber base from 850 tails to 25k+ and a highly successful large scale MPLS WAN business. Other tech plays included a data centre build at the Newark campus, an O2 multi-tenant mobile APN, a Cisco/EMC cloud and a Genband carrier scale VoIP platform.I've served on the boards of both ISP and ITSP trade associations, the IPv6 Advisory Panel to Ed Vaizey, Minister for the Internet at DCMS and the Technology Reference Panel of the Information Commissioner's Office. In January 2013 I was elected a Director of the LONAP Internet Exchange Point and was Chairman of the Board for six years until the end of my third and final stint as a director.I have organised a number of globally high profile events including the pigeon vs broadband race in 2010 (global exposure on all mainstream media) and the Move Over IPv4 Bring on IPv6 event to mark the exhaustion of the IPv4 address space. I also throw a totally amazing party every Christmas called trefbash.I am involved as a non-exec director and advisor with a select number of businesses and am responsible for establishing the Netaxis business in the UK.
